Headstones and Memorials in Tauranga

For families across Tauranga and the wider Bay of Plenty, choosing a headstone is rarely something you’ve done before, and almost never something you do quickly. We’re here when you’re ready — with people who will take the time, a workshop with nearly 140 years of craft behind it, and a Tauranga showroom that’s been serving Bay of Plenty families for more than two decades.

ABOUT US

We’re still here, just down the road

We’re still here, just down the road

If you knew us in Greerton, you’ll find us a few minutes away in Tauranga South. After more than twenty years in our old premises, we’ve moved to a larger workshop and showroom at 56A Fifteenth Avenue — about three times the size of the Greerton building, with room to display a much wider range of memorials in person. Same business, same craftspeople, same standard of work; just a roomier home for it all.

Louise and Sue are here as always — on the phone, on email, and in the showroom — and any work begun in Greerton has carried straight through to the new address. If you’re returning to us for an additional inscription, an unveiling, or a piece of restoration work, nothing about the move changes how we look after that for you.

Most people who walk into our Tauranga showroom are working through one of four things. You don’t need to know which one yours is before you get in touch — Louise or Sue will help you place it.

A new headstone or memorial

A new headstone or memorial

Whether the cemetery is in Pyes Pā, Bethlehem, Te Puke, Katikati, Whakatāne or further afield, we’ll guide you through the choices that matter — stone, shape, finish, design and lettering — and make sure what you choose is permitted at the cemetery you’re working with. Granite, bronze, traditional or bespoke. Nothing rushed.

A memorial plaque

For lawn cemeteries, gardens of remembrance, niche walls and ash plots, a plaque is often the right answer. We make granite and bronze plaques for cemeteries throughout the Bay of Plenty, and we’ll help with sizing, finish and wording so the finished piece feels right.

Inscriptions and wording

Inscriptions and wording

The hardest part is often deciding what to say. We’ll help you settle the wording, layout and lettering — including additional inscriptions to existing memorials when a partner or family member is laid to rest later

Restoration and renovation

Restoration and renovation

Older memorials weather, lean, fade or chip. We restore and renovate headstones across the Bay of Plenty — re-cutting lettering, re-gilding, cleaning, resetting and repairing — and we’ll tell you honestly what’s worth doing and what isn’t.

If you’d rather pick up the phone first, that’s easily the most common way families start. If you’d prefer to come in and see the work in person, you’re very welcome — a quick call ahead is appreciated so we can make sure someone is free to spend as much time with you as you need.

Answers to the questions families ask us most

Yes — exactly the same. After 20+ years in Greerton, we moved a few minutes south to a larger showroom and workshop at 56A Fifteenth Avenue, Tauranga South. Same team, same workshop standard, same phone numbers. If you have a memorial we made, we still have your records, and we’re very happy to help with additional work.

No. Most people don’t. Louise or Sue will walk you through the options at whatever pace suits you — there’s no expectation you’ll decide on the first conversation.

Yes. From our Tauranga branch, we work with families and cemeteries throughout the Bay of Plenty — including Te Puke, Katikati, Mount Maunganui, Papamoa, Whakatane, Opotiki and the rural settlements between.

It depends on the stone, the size, the shape, the lettering and the cemetery’s requirements — so any honest answer needs a short conversation first. We’ll give you a clear written quote with no obligation, and we’ll explain what’s driving the price.

Yes — additional inscriptions are one of the most common things we do. We can match lettering style and depth to the original work.

Often, yes. Send us a photo or two, and we’ll tell you what’s realistic. Some headstones can be brought back beautifully; a small number are better replaced. We’ll be straight with you either way.
